Would you buy hot sauté potatoes and cèpes from this
man? We did and very good they were too! It was the the Farmers
Market and "Gourmand Picnic" in Place de la République
on Friday evening. For those of you not familiar with these events,
the system is you pick up a tray, napkin and cutlery at the Information
Point and then just wander around the stalls, buying anything that
takes your fancy. You then head for a place at one of the long trestle
tables and... consume.
We include here a selection of images to give you a flavour of
the evening.
Just click on one of the images above to view a larger version.

Having been delivered to the narrow entrance to Autoire quickly
and painlessly by a park and ride shuttle bus, the first thing you
noticed about Autoire was that it was candlelit.
|
 |
| The second thing you noticed were the throngs of people in the normally
quiet medieval streets. Not quiet tonight, though, for the third thing
that struck was the noise of the bands. And people enjoying themselves,
as they waited for the fireworks to begin. |

| Malvy in the commune of St Paul de Vern, near St. Céré
held its annual Fête du Pain on Saturday. The day started at
09.00 with the making of the dough, using the "get-stuck-in"
method and ended in the wee small hours after a communal meal. Malvy,
like many small communes throughout France, knows how to throw a party! |
Have you ever tasted Panifèl? It is delicious, often eaten
as "blotting-paper" with your apèro. Having
made the bread-dough, walnut oil and coarse sugar is all you need.
Click the image below to see how it is made. |

You could hardly move in Rue de la République, there was
not a table to be had in the restaurants of Place Mercadial and
Place de La République was a sea of people washing around
the many island stalls... Night Market in St. Céré.
