An attempt to map density of blogs in America.
Apparently, there are some 113 million blogs in the the world. English
speaking ones, that is, as there are something like 79 million blogs
in China alone (Source: Technorati) Apparently some 70,000 of us
a day leap into cyber space with a new blog.
It has become something of an Internet phenomenon... no wonder
hardly anybody with a computer buys a local newspaper these days.
It is also hardly a surprise, that advertising revenue from internet
sites has now overtaken that raised by TV stations.
And that is why there are so many blogs and websites... as the
regular media channels such as TV and Press, shed audiences, the
internet , which can be accessed anywhere, anytime, are where we
are going to seek information, news, product specs and... to shop.
And advertisers follow where we go. (Wish they'd come
here. Ed.)

Céré blog
So we now have a blog too. Not to sell you things or tell you where
the cheapest widgets can be bought. Not even to educate you. No.
oh no.
We have a blog because, well, everyone does. Anyway, it is nice
to have the platform for a bit of a rant now and again! Mind you,
if we could make a euro profit out of every Chinese that publishes
a blog....

new St. Céré blog by clicking this link or the

you find there. (Gulp, Ed.)

What's on offer from Ryanair? - click the image above
The world's most profitable airline aims to get more profitable
and it is you who will help them do it. For, after all, what would
we do without them? It would certainly make living here in France
that much more difficult.
Ryanair have announced the abolition of check-in desks. Instead,
you will have to check-in online at the cost of £5
- per person each way. Don't lose the boarding pass (you have downloaded,
printed off and... paid for) otherwise, from now on, you will be
charged £40 at the airport for a replacement!
If you take a bag with you, then from today, when you buy your
ticket, you will be charged £30. A second bag will set you
back another £70
It is becoming increasingly difficult to figure out what a flight
will actually cost you, when checking into Ryanair's very murky
website. Taking advantage of one of their promotional fares (see
website above) seems to be your best best, rather than wander onto
their site ad hoc. That way, the fare is more transparent. You get
a bargain. Ryanair make a few bob... and we in France continue to
benefit from their easy access to and fro to the UK.
Mind you... if only they flew into Brive Souillac! If only any
airline could fly into Brive Souillac!

There is nothing like a funfair to bring out the kids and the kid
in all of us! Which is probably why St. Céré was mobbed
this weekend. Where do all those people go in Winter?
Anyway, the usual good natured crowds looked like they may well
stay away this year, as Saturday dawned damp and grey. By funfair
opening time on Saturday afternoon, the rain looked like it might
get the upper hand. A shame when you consider we just had 16 days
non-stop sunshine before... even now, after the damp weekend...
the sun shines strongly out of a bright blue sky.
"Might be as well to wait until Sunday to go into town... bit
wet today... it may clear by tomorrow", wheedled the reluctant
parent of a "can-do" 8 year old. "Get real Dad",
retorted he, "You just do not understand do you? Everyone goes
on Sunday. Which means queues at all the rides. Which means the
ride-man cuts short your time, so they can make more money. Also,
because it is raining today, even fewer people will go and I will
get even longer on the rides. I'm going today. Now. With or without
you". Bearing in mind we live 3.9 miles from General Canrobert
- determination indeed. Melting in the face of such defiance, the
deal was clinched when (ever the negotiator), he said "Anyway,
if it is still raining, you could always sit in the dry at the bar
and drink beer!
We went and a thoroughly good time was had by all.

images captured this day, click the "Octopussy" above
It even stopped raining. To such an extent, that Sunday dawned
bright and (mostly) clear, getting warm again in time for (now crowded)
St Céré to enjoy the marching bands and floats.
After a shaky start, St. Céré saw the summer out
in style.

The onward march of new builds in and around St. Céré
seems not to have diminished, in spite of the fact that France is
still in recession. Above is the start of a new urbanisation right
on the edge of town, on the Leyme Road.
Where is everyone coming from? Where do they work? We tackled builders
merchants, Chausson, as we reasoned that if anyone knew - they would.
"Who are these incomers to St. Céré - where are
they coming from?", we asked. "From everywhere",
was the reply. "But what do they do? Where do they work?".
The reply was a shrug!

We will be meeting on Friday 6th November at the Café
Voyageurs, as usual, to put the world to rights and for a drink
or three. If you are out and about...
join us.
