It's a Dogs Life!

Anyone Got a Home?
The Dog Refuge have been in touch to say that as well as dogs that are up for adoption, they have quite a few kittens that need a good home.

Dino, one of the dogs we featured on the website last month, has been adopted, but they have several others that need to find new homes, including Coll, featured below...

For further details, please see their sponsored page on this website, by clicking image above or this this link.

Brazoucade!

Sapeur Pompiers Arsonists

Yep, it's that time of year again, when the Sapeurs Pompiers set fire to things. All in a good cause of course, it's all about Moules Frites! Saturday 11th July, Place de la Républic.

Late Start to Kermesse

Schools summer show, St. Céré
The sun finally goes down and the curtain rises...

Waiting for Dark
Following days of confusion, mutterings and growing rebellion (well, this is France) when the night of the Kermesse finally arrived, all became clear. Or not. Depended where you were sitting and your state of mind.

Because it turned out that, no, the kids did not get the message wrong... it really was intentional that the show didn't start until 10h.00 - we were waiting for dark because the centrepiece of the whole evening was to be an audio-visual presentation!

The Kermesee needed more of this.... and a whole lot less of the other!

For the sake of harmony, not to mention Franco-Brit relations (Yeah OK, we also need our kid to get good grades next term!), we will not go into a critique of the evening...

Except to say next year... how about more kids on stage and less A/V?

And, oh yes, back to the afternoon time slot please!

Out and About

That's how much VAT you will now pay when you eat out, rather than 19.6%. Nicolas Sarkozy promised to help restaurants by cutting VAT, during his election campaign. He was prevented from doing so by the EU (responding to German pressure - but, hey, let's not get political here) until this 1st July. So the price of a meal out should now be significantly cheaper. providing, of course, the restaurateur passes on the saving to you! Talking of food...

Fancy a Good Curry?

Just got an e-mail asking just that. Oh what a joy... a Curry restaurant right here in St. Céré, we thought. Alas it is not to be... not yet, anyway, for the e-mail was from French based (Normandy) Brit entrepeneur, Eric, who runs an internet mail order company called appropriately enough, PacketCurry.com. Eric says:

.. look, If you're undecided take a risk and splash out on a couple of packets - if you don't like them I'll send you a full refund and bunch of flowers.

Can't get fairer than that! Ed
