Christmas Carols - At Home

Click here to listen to a marvellous version of that all time favourite Christmas Carol - Once in Royal Davids City
Click the image above and listen while you read.

Listen and then download the words
Click the image above to listen as angel voiced Libera and grown-up tenor, Aled Jones, sing one of the best versions of Once in Royal David's City, you'll be likely to hear this side of Cambridge, this Christmas!

Last year we produced a page where you could download the words to all the favourite Christmas Carols, so you wouldn't be embarrassed when you went to an English language Christmas Carol service in the area. You know what we mean... first verse... no problem, but then the second and third? Normally by the fourth verse, only the vicar is singing because he has the words in front of his nose. The rest of us? Well how many times have you hummed through Silent night? Quietly, so as not to attract attention?

Anyway, judging by all the download activity, we thought we better repeat the facility this year, together with our Christmas Carol juke box... so you can listen to your old favourite Carols and Christmas Music... Live on this website... and then downlaosd the words so you can sing along at home!

Click the image below to access this great mix of music and video clips, in a our Christmas Juke Box.

Click this link and select your own Christmas Carols from our Christmas Jukebox

Shopping for books Just got a Lot Easier
There are few things better on a winters day, than to be able to curl up in front of the fire for a good read. Not so easy, when you can't just pop out to a bookshop for a browse of the latest titles. Amazon, of course, is well known as an online store and pioneered buying books on the internet. lesser known, perhaps, is the Book Depository. They often beat Amazon on price, and, as importantly, they do not charge for packaging or postage. The price you see displayed, is the price you will actually pay. Go ahead. Have a good browse. Expats near St. Cere meet up informally, First Friday of every month

Next First Friday...
5th February

It was good to see everyone last Friday... ages since we had such a good natter. Just like popping into the pub back home!

BUT, the first Friday in January is, in fact, New Years day and a public holiday, even here in France. What? And you thought living here in France every day was a holiday? Anyway, in the interests of promoting family harmony, it is probably best to give it a miss in January. Mind you, I could be persuaded! E-mail me if you want to meet up on 1st January- Ed.)

One of the biggest problems living in rural France, is the lack of choice when it comes to pressie shopping. Choice, not just in the variety of things on offer, but of price. It is almost as if there is a cartel operating amongst all the major stores here. The price of a Bosch cordless screwdriver differs not, between Bricorama and Mr Bricolage etc.

A bit galling, really, when folks back home in the UK are spoilt for choice and are having to wade through 2-for-one offers and hugely discounted goods.

Well we have decided to do something about it and have begun on a new website build to bring choice and low prices to us down here in the boondocks.

As a beginning, we have teamed up with two famous online stores - Amazon and The Book Depository, so you can get online and grab some bargains.

Amazon deliver most things to France and when it comes to Books, the Book Depository deliver anywhere at no additional cost.

Happy shopping.
