The first that St. Céréens knew of this medical
drama unfolding in their midst, was the heavy clatter of rotor blades
as a SAMU emergency helicopter pivoted over the medieval town centre,
nearing the end of its dash from Toulouse, to aid a badly injured
man.
An emergency telephone call to St. Céré Hospital
at around 09h.00, resulted in the fast response team attending an
injured man at his workplace, closely followed by the Sapeurs Pompiers.
An on the spot assessment of the man's injuries, decided the emergency
team that an immediate airlift to hospital in Toulouse was needed,
if the injured man was to receive the expert medical help required.
With the local Gendarmes now in attendance, the casualty was transferred
to the rugby practise pitch by the Sapeures Pompiers ambulance,
to await the medevac helicopter, which landed at approximately 10h.00.

By 10h.30, the helicopter was airborne again carrying the injured
man to Toulouse and the waiting surgical team, by the quickest route
possible.
The responding helicopter was one of two Eurocopter EC135 T2 helicopters
based at Toulouse, on 24hr standby. Together they ensure prompt
continuity of emergency response throughout the Lot and Tarn and
Garonne.
The result is, that even in a relatively rural backwater such as
St. Céré, swift access to probably the best healthcare
in Western Europe, is only a phone call away.

head for the Voyageurs to catch the action on the big screen, and,
maybe, quaff a few pints.
The long slog that is the Royal Bank of Scotland Six Nations Cup
Rugby Union Tournament has begun. We have reproduced the full fixtures
list for you to plan your viewing, just click on the image above
to pop-up a new window to view match days and kick-off times. You

It promises to be quite a competition, but we can tell you now,
that the "Gala Day" for many, will be Sunday afternoon
15th March, when England meet France at Twickenham... in front of
a sell-out 82,000 crowd. Beware the Ides of March - Les Blues!
Both the Café Voyaguers and the Grand Café Maury
(both in Place de République) have big screens and both promise
to be open on match days. Hmmm... we'll see! Suffice to say, if
you are outnumbered by the wrong colour shirts, or there is no-one
you recognise at the one... try the other!

It started when Danny
the PC Doctor read about how we missed the Hurricane because
we do not watch French TV and therefore didn't get the warning.
He e-mailed the address for Zattoo TV and, hey presto, we can now
watch/listen to French TV (all the usual Channels) whilst we work
at the computer. Free. It took less than 2-minutes to click through
to the site and download the TV player. All we had to do was open
an "account" with our e-mail address and create a password.
Try it. Click the image above to open a new window to the Zattoo
TV website and you need never miss another storm warning!
