Forthcoming Events

Gymkhana
Saturday 26th, the Kids put on their annual horse show, this year up at their new facility in Donat Haut, just off the St. Céré to Gramat road.

It is more a "Fête du Club", than a serious horse show and the kids get up to all kinds of antics... on (and, occasionally off!) their horses.

Claire st St. Céré Equitation says anyone is welcome to come, not just parents of the participants. In fact, if you bring some meat, they'll even Bar-B-Q it for you after the show. Otherwise bring a picnic and an eskie and watch the kids (and horses!) perform.

Schools Kermesse Sunday
Sunday 27th sees St. Céré host its annual Public Schools Kermesse - the kids of all years put on their end of school-year concert. During the afternoon, it's the littlies turn... the bigger kids strut their stuff in the Evening at about 21h.00. Stalls and stuff all afternoon in Place de la République. Watch out for Les Pistolêres... water pistols are much prevalent. Or take a spare set of clothes and join-in!

Don't worry... you can watch the England V's Germany game (kick-off 16h.00) and still catch the Evening Show... which doesn't start until 21h.00

They Made It!

Long Awaited London Connection!

CityJet Land at the New Brive Vallée de la Dordogne Airport
Cheap flights from the Lot to the UK became a step closer to reality today, as the inaugural CityJet flight landed at the Formerly named Brive Souillac airport 25th June.

Everything under control at the new
Brive airport

Ready or Not? - Ready!
This follows fears that the airport would not be ready to receive passengers (as reported in the last issue of this website). Problem is at the moment, that CityJet have only committed to fly the route until September this year. As residents of the Lot, naturally, we need year-round flights. Seems that we may have to wait for negotiations between Ryanair and the airport syndicate to agree terms before we really get a viable service. We'll keep you posted on developments.

Flights are currently £59 all inclusive (and you get a pre-allocated seat and a free drink!... just like the old days). Further details on the CityJet website: www.cityjet.com

World Cup

England v's Germany
Whether you are a died-in-the-wool football fan or not, you have to agree, that there is something a bit addictive about the World Cup. Especially if your national team is doing OK.

Now there is nothing that an Englishman likes best than a good old roustabout match against the French. When France booted themselves out of the competition, a bit of the frisson went out of the prospect of the closing stages... until England and Germany ended up getting through. Now there is only one tthing an Englishman likes more than a world cup match between France and England... it's a match against Germany.

Out and About

Yet Another Optician

There were occasions when you could not enter town, for all the white vans parked outside the Chantier at the head of Rue République.

For those of you wondering what all the renovation work was about, at the building between Orpi and the Croustillant bakery, then all is now revealed... yet another optician opens in St. Céré. To join all the others already here. For a town of 3,600 inhabitants!

Somebody must know what they are doing!?

Les Flicks, Flit!

Gendarmerie sign

You don't have to sneak past the Gendarmerie on the way into town on dodgy tyres anymore, because they have moved to brand spanking new premises on the outskirts of town, on the edge of the new urbanisation - Avenue Andre Boyer, to be precise.
